The Daughters of Union Veterans
Cemetery Project for Civil War Veterans

The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War (DUV) are asking for help to compile a complete list if Civil War Veterans that either enlisted, lived, died or are buried in Macon County, MO. Names are being gathered for BOTH Union and Confederate Veterans. It would be a great help if anyone submitting a name could provide some information about the Veterans such as: Union or Confederate and whether enlisted, lived or died in Macon County, and name of the cemetery where buried, but, all names are being gathered.

DUV will, also, provide help if there is any person that would like to gain membership into DUV, or the Sons of Union Veterans or Daughters or Sons of the Confederacy.

Veterans of the Civil War are eligible for a free government tombstone if they do not have a tombstone or if their stone is broken or can no longer be read. Veterans whose stones do not state their service can, also, received a tombstone and placed next to the original tombstone or used as a foot stone. DUV will provide and help family members complete the appropriate paperwork for a tombstone.
