Mrs. D.S. Matkins funeral was held at Kellogg Church 15 March 1915. She died at the home of her daughter in Kansas City. Burial in Macon.

David T. Madkins or Matkins died at the home of his daughter in Kansas City 3 July 1910 of paralysis. He is survived by a wife, two daughters, Mrs. Ed Gieselman of St. Louis and Mrs. Albert Schweikhaus and a son Launce Madkins of Macon and two brothers and two sisters. Interment in the family cemetery near Kellogg.

Harry W. Matkins, 312 West Ninth Street, died at his home at 7:30 p.m. Friday after an illness of four months. Born in Macon, MO, Oct. 8, 1878, Mr. Matkins had resided in Davenport for the last 35 years. He had been employed at Atlas cigar store. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; a stepson, Emory Parker, Davenport, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Marie McCurdy, Davenport. The body was taken to Halligan funeral home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Matkins Funeral-- Final rites for Mrs. Harry Matkins were held at 8:45 a.m. today in Halligan funeral home, and at 9 a.m. in St. Anthony's church. The Rev. E. W. Barron celebrated a requiem high mass, pronounced the burial absolution and preached the sermon. The Rev. M. J. Broderick officiated at commital services in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were James E. Smith, Jack Banes, Richard Hinton, William DeLap and Arthur Cartee.

Lawrence Matkins died at his home in Kansas City, Missouri on 10 August 1917 from paralysis. He leaves a wife and three small children. Mrs. Matkins was formerly Miss Bertha Heitman of Macon and Lawrence was formerly from Macon. Funeral services were in Kansas City.

Mrs. Margaret Josephine Matkin died 8 Oct 1923 at her house west of Macon. She was born 24 May 1856. She was united in marriage to Joseph Penelton Moore at Bevier, MO 18 Dec 1876. To this union were born three children, Mrs. S. M. McGrew, Bessie Alice Moore and Daniel Isaac Moore. The husband and two children preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to LeRoy P. Matkin 2 Jan 1886. She leaves her husband and one daughter, Mrs. S. M. McGrew, three step-children Annie Hamilton of Kansas, Henry Matkin of Davenport, Iowa and Charley Matkin of Eugene, Oregon, three brothers, Daniel Johnson of Chicago, Thomas Johnson of Cincinnati, Iowa, Walker Johnson of Bevier, MO. Interment in Bevier cemetery.

Margaret Josephine Matkin was born May 24, 1856, and died October 8, 1923, at her home three miles west of Macon. She was united in marriage to Joseph Penelton Moore at Bevier, Mo., December 18, 1876, and to this union were born three children, Mrs. S.M. McGrew; Bessie Alice Moore and Daniel Isaac Moore. The husband and two of the children preceded her to the grave. She later was united in marriage to Leroy P. Matkin on the second day of January 1886. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband and one daughter, Mrs. S.M. McGrew, three step-children, Annie Hamilton of Kansas; Harry Matkin of Davenport, Iowa and Charley Matkin of Eugene, Oregon and six grandchlidren, three brothers, Daniel Johnson of Chicago, Thomas Johnson of Cincinnati, Iowa, Walker Johnson of Bevier, Mo. Funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment in Bevier cemetery.

Here For Mrs. Matkin's Funeral (Margaret Josephine Matkin) Mr. and Mrs. Mac Tobin, Sr., and son Mac Tobin, Jr., of Moulton, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Johnston of Centerville, Iowa; Dan Johnston of Chicago, Glenn McGrew of Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. S. Ketchum of Mendota; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cross of Brookfield are among those from out of town who are attending the funeral services of Mrs. Matkins today.

William S. Matkin, 86, died at the home of his son, Earl Matkin in Macon 20 April 1928. He was born 10 August 1841 in Logan County, Kentucky and came to Macon county in 1849. He was married to Rebecca Russell in 1881 and to this union three children were born, Dannie, who died in infancy, Woolsey Matkin, of Moberly, and Earl Matkin of Macon. He also leaves a brother, LeRoy Matkin of Macon and a sister, Mrs. Amanda Simmons, also of Macon. Interment in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Miss Ann Matkins, 78, died at the home of her nephew, Earl Matkins with whom she lived 17 May 1926. She was born in Logan County, Kentucky 23 December 1847 the daughter of Daniel W. Matkins. She moved to Macon County in 1850 and has made her home here since. She is survived by two brothers and two sisters. They are William S. Matkins of Macon, E. P. Matkins of Bevier, Mrs. Martha Rutledge of Macon and Amanda Simmons also of Macon. Interment in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Macon Republican, page 59 - Mrs. Martha W. Matkins, 77, died at her home in Clarence, Mo. 15 February 1895. She leaves six children. The remains were placed in what is known as the Greer Graveyard.

Ermine Terrell McCarty, former La Plata resident and a member of the Presbyterian Church here since 1887, died Friday in Oregon, Mo. The daughter of J.J. and Ann McGee Terrell, she was born near Macon April 13, 1867, the eldest daughter of a family of five boys and three girls. She died at the age of eighty-nine. In 1887 the family moved to La Plata. There, in August of that year, she united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. There she met J.M. McCarty and they were married April 25, 1888. Two children were born to this union, Anna Elizabeth, now Mrs. Gordon Decker of Maitland, Missouri and Marion Ellis, now deceased. Mrs. McCarty was a charter member of the La Plata Camp No. 2865 RNA. She was active in that society and the church for many years. Her husband died June 2, 1933. In 1945, when her health began to fail, she went to live with her daughter near Maitland. Her husband, parents, a son and a grandson preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, a granddaughter, Patricia Copeland of Wichita, Kansas; a grandson, John McCarty of Kansas City; one sister, Mrs. D.M. Griffin of Spokane, Washington; two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. Funeral services were February 24th at Mound City, Missouri. The body was brought to La Plata for services in the Christie Funeral Home, Rev. Harold Johnson officiating. Burial was in the family lot in the La Plata Cemetery. J.M. McCarty -- J.M. McCarty, a resident of this community for many years, died at his home here Thursday night, June 1, 1933, after an illness of several months, being seriously ill and confined to his bed for the past three weeks. John Marion McCarty, son of Johnathon and Elizabeth McCarty, was born at the farm home near New Harmony Church August 25, 1856. Here he spent his childhood and early manhood. He moved to La Plata in 1894 and here he has lived. He was married to Ermine Terrell of Anabel, Missouri April 25, 1888, more than forty-five years ago. To them were born two children, both whom survive their father, Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Decker of Maitland and Marion Ellis McCarty of La Plata. He made confession of his faith and united with the Community Presbyterian Church November 21, 1926 under the ministry of Rev. Sheen. He is survived by his two children, his wife and two grandchildren, John Milton and Patricia McCarty. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, June 4, at 2:00 at the Community Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Fred L. Hudson, pastor of the church. Burial was made in the La Plata Cemetery. Macon Daily Chronicle Herald & Journal -- Mrs. Angeline D. McGrew, 85, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Vansickle near Macon. She was born in Ralls County, Mo. 27 Feb 1837. She was the daughter of John and Fidelia Spencer and was married to Clinton McGrew in July 1854. To this union were born six children, two dying in infancy, one daughter, Mrs. I. M. Walker died in 1913. Survivors are Mrs. Billy Binder, Mrs. Wm. VanSickle, and Mrs. Spence McGrew of Macon. Funeral at Friendship Baptist Church and interment in the church cemetery. She died in July 1922.

Funeral For Mrs. Norah May McGrew Will Be Tomorrow Mrs. Norah May McGrew, 78, lifelong resident of Macon and Macon County, died Saturday evening at her home at 412 South Rollins following several months illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm tomorrow at the Skinner Home for Funerals, conducted by the Rev. Aubrey F. Moncrief. Burial will be in East Oakwood Cemetery at Bevier. Mrs. McGrew was born in Macon County May 1, 1878, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine Moore, and had spent her entire life in Macon and Macon County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Macon. She was married to S.M. McGrew, who preceded her in death in January 1937. Mrs. McGrew is survived by six children: Mrs. Bernice Burnette and Leroy S. McGrew of Macon, Glenn of DeKalb, Illinois; Mrs. Lorene Allred of Kirksville; Mrs. Lucille McChesney of Terre Haute, Ind., and William H. of Baltimore, Md. She also leaves eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her parents, one brother and one sister preceded her in death. The body will lie in state at the Home For Funerals until the hour of service.

Attend Services Here For Mrs. S.M. McGrew Mr. and Mrs. Tom McChesney and children, Mike and Martha of Terre Haute, Ind., and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rowland and children, Chris and Mark, of St. Louis, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Allred and Pat McGrew of Kirksville all returned to their homes yesterday afternoon after attending funeral services yesterday for their mother and grandmother, Mrs. S.M. McGrew. Two sons, William H. McGrew of Baltimore, Md. and Glenn McGrw of Dekalb, Illinois returned home today. Shelby Allred also returned today to his home in Kirksville, while Mrs. Allred remained in Macon for a few days visit with her sister, Mrs. Ralph Burnette and her brother, Leroy McGrew, and their families.
